According to Alberta Justice's Security Programs website, first aid is not listed as a mandatory requirement to get your security licence in Alberta. You would only need to complete an approved Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST) course.

However, some employers may require first aid certification for employment. We looked through job postings for security guards in Alberta on Indeed. Not all employers require first aid. Some have listed the certification as an asset.

To obtain a first aid certificate you will need to complete training through one of the approved training providers in Alberta.

Meanwhile, you can start our Ministry accredited online ABST course to get your security licence. Those in Edmonton and Calgary that enroll in our course can receive a discount on the first aid training through our partner. We also include the online provincial test as part of the course.
